i’m thinking about "face" - whether its about "giving face", "saving face", "no face" or watever else that has to do with face.

 

The face practice has been happening at wedding dinners… a dilemma for as i get older, i’m caught between giving face and no face. As one by one, friends (some whom you haven’t met in years) are dropping like flies into the wedding pot, so you get invited. Will you go? "Aiyah… ppl ask u so gif sum face laaa." Ok ok i’ll give you my face.

 

But then there is that prerequisite financial sacrifice for that overly expensive dinner u would need to endure (paying good money to starve as the dinners never start on time). So comes the no face part – how much money to surrender? "Dun gif too little ahhh… later ppl say u cheap then u no face oh".  There’s also the smarter couples out there who "leak" out the price for the dinner hoping that friends would "know what to do". Yet, as a typical cash-strapped student, how much can i "do"? So, if i don’t go, i don’t give face. Yet if i go but pay only what i can afford, i will no longer have a face.

 

Yet, if u add 1 simple alphabet to face, it becomes a farce – meaning deliberate absurdity or nonsense. Reach your own conclusions… Â
