Tired, Blistered yet Happy

The leaves are turning colour and falling off the trees. Autumn is in full swing here in Melbourne. The weather is getting colder, with rain and wind pretty much everyday. It’s so depressing, I just want to curl up in bed with a book and a block of chocolates… but I won’t, coz I got only 6 more weeks before my major project deadline hits. *sighhhhhhh*

I was prepared to actually spend the Easter holidays working on my project and catching up on sleep but instead, I didn’t even touch my project for almost 10 days! I had an inkling that Easter was a huge holiday for aussies but I didn’t noe it was quite as big! Like Chinese New Year back home, the shops all close for the weekend holidays - even Safeway supermarket (the one place that NEVER shuts) was closed on Easter Sunday! Even some chinese eateries in chinatown was closed during Good Friday.

This long weekend was a never-ending rollercoaster of shopping, great friends and really good food. Went to sample shanghai dumplings and ja jiang noodles in chinatown on Good Friday. Easter Saturday was spent at Vic Mart then at Docklands, peering into the posh restaurants and soaking up the "so hip it hurts" vibe around the New Quay area.
Easter Sunday dinner was spent at Crown Casino’s Sante restaurant. The buffet spread was yummy (except for the utterly disappointing desserts). Tried my hand at slot machines with complimentary points from Crown… but i’m not much of a gambler, lost interest very quickly. Saw a breath-analyser at Crown – u put in a $1 then take a straw and blow into the hole and they check ur alcohol level for u.

My housemate’s mum came to stay for a week so we all benefited from her expert cooking skills. Thai salad, caramelised pork, chicken rice etc. *yum*… missing all the good food already! *double sigh*
My landlord/housemate got hold of some chocolate easter eggs and shared them with us. Lucky me, coz i din manage to get any during the clearance sale, coz i was late getting to the shops and there were only odds and ends left.

one of the easter eggs i ate :D

This whole week I’ve been shopping relentlessly… bought a pair of skinny leg jeans and a great pair of slouchy boots to complete my winter ensemble. I also got a super cool bag from Mooks! I’m sooooo in lurve with it. Gosh, i sound like a shopaholic already… any 12 step programmes available to help cure me?

Today, I was breaking in my new pair of boots and i got a HUGE blister on the third toe of my right foot! No wonder it was hurting so badly. Now I have to be extra careful not to break the skin, or else it might get infected.
