A weekend of ups and downs – THE DOWNS

Sad but true, I’m a control freak that’s currently repressed and awaiting a major volcanic eruption.

So, what brought on this line of thought? A weekend in KL when I became an absolute monster (some ppl might call it a bitch fest), with poor hubby caught in between and getting the brunt of my temper.

In a typical marriage, the husband and wife lives together in a home – “settling down”, with or without the parents. In such situations, they get to see each other everyday and won’t have to worry about where to raise their child when they do get one (the child is another issue I’ll address another day… *double sigh*). Even if they live with their parents, they’ll still have an amount of freedom to decorate their bedroom as they see fit. I stay in 3 different bedrooms, none of which I can consider my own. The feeling of becoming “displaced” reached an all-time high when I was not even allowed to use my own bedsheets in KL and i had a 5 min crying jag. So yeah, I’ve taken those bedsheets, quilt and all, down to JB, where I am more in control of the situation.

Why such a fuss over bedsheets? They were high quality sheets I bought for our marriage bed. My mother-in-law thinks they are too thick and difficult to wash and needs ironing etc. But we only sleep in the KL bed TWO nights each month, and I don’t wash them after EVERY visit. *sigh* And I love them cause they aren’t all flowery in jarring colours and rough to the touch.

Colour and pattern is very influential to a person’s mood.

Try sleeping in a room painted bright red with huge repetitive yellow sunflower patterns on purple coloured bedsheets and see if u don’t get unhinged very soon.

That’s why they sell those sickening designs during cheap Jusco sales at 70% off!! There’s a REASON why they are so darn cheap! They will make u commit murder! *urrggghhhh*

So, yeah… coming back to the sheets. It will be such a waste to store them away and as my hubby suggested – use them during CNY. First of all, we’re NEVER in KL during CNY. We have to go off “camping” in kuala pilah. Which is why I insisted on taking everything down to JB. At least there I can enjoy a bit of luxury after a long week in SG.

So after THAT incident my whole weekend was truly spoilt. I was in a vengeful mood. I wanted to murder everything in my path… so I indulged in a bout of very expensive retail therapy.

Off we went to Bkt Bintang.

to be continued…
