Across the “river”

Since about two months ago, I’ve been spending 3 nights in JB and 4 nights in SG… with the occasional visit home to KL (2 nights max).

The highlight of each work week is Friday and I love Fridays. Thank goodness for Fridays!

Friday’s the day when I’ll cross the “river”, to meet my hubby and spend the weekend. However, all this moving around is driving me nutz. Crossing that “river” is no joke > 2 hours on a good Friday, and on Monday it’s usually another 1 1/2 – 2 hours travel to work again.

Now we have a stove in JB I get to cook a bit more – yeah, me the part-time housewife. But with cooking comes shopping for foodstuff – another headache. I wish markets can open AT LEAST till 3pm so I can sleep in. *wishful thinking*

And due to reducing the hassle of living out of a suitcase, I now own triple of everything – toothbrushes, moisturiser, facial wash, shampoo & conditioner, contact lens solution, hair mask… u get the drift. I just straightened my hair a few days ago, which means I’ve gotta get another set of hair products x3 >.< *whoopie* ha ha... Well, sacrifices will have to be made, I suppose, since I've chosen this path. :p

Last month my parents came for a visit to my JB digs and gave their stamp of approval. *whew* Seems like they love JB more than SG – cheaper, much better tasting food being one of the chief reasons. Not that everything in SG tastes horrible… well, not as bad as it first tasted when i had to convert my KL tastebuds to SG tastebuds… (haha if there’s ever such a thing!) I found that the key to surviving SG food is to eat only those that are highly recommended, and sometimes even those tried & tested foods need a healthy dose of soy sauce or chilli before they are palatable.

Hey, I don’t mind healthy food but adding a bit more salt won’t kill ya, right?
