Happy Mid-Autumn Festival

All of a sudden, I miss home and all the good times we spent running around as kids playing with lanterns, candles and bonfires.

Kitch lanterns found at Chinatown, Singapore

My home is on a hill, with a steep slope filled with vegetation in front of my house and a view of KL that has thankfully remained unblocked. Me and the neighbourhood kids used to set the slope on fire every cny and mid-autumn festival – basically anytime we get to play with fire.

In those days, we had no battery-operated lanterns and even if we had, we would not have wanted them. The whole highlight of the festival was to encourage our pyromania! Even burning our lanterns was fun LOL The fire department would be kept very busy too and we’d have tons of fun watching the firefighters do their thing.

Now I’m in Singapore, alone as usual, eating my dinner of crabstick onigiri and thinking about home. It’s not as if I’m not used to missing home by now, but… *sigh* Let’s hope that in the future I’ll have more to look forward to. Greetings from me and may your mid-autumn festival be a wonderful affair. :D
