Madam Kwan’s @ Pavillion, KL

Seems like everyone I know visited Pavillion in Bkt Bintang during chinese new year 2010. Well, the mall’s entrance was certainly imposing, and the interior tastefully and creatively done up. I loved the kitch lanterns on the right. Maybe I’ll do that to the ones I own, so they don’t look quite as boring… :D

Me and my sis (whom I’ve not seen in more than a year) had tons of catching up to do, and what better way to do some female bonding than over sumptious food and also serious retail therapy.

I’ll skip the shopping part, but never the food! Since sis missed Madam Kwan’s curry laksa, we had our dinner there. Lo and behold who was greeting us at the entrance and leading us to our seats? Madam Kwan herself! On hindsight, I should have taken her picture (check out their facebook page), but I was wayyyy to shy >.<

For those who have not heard of Madam Kwan’s, it is a high-end hawker restaurant (what a contradiction) serving Malaysian cuisine. They were originally from Sakura Restaurant @ Jln Imbi. I ate there as a small kid and really can’t remember what the food tasted like, though my parents do rave about it on occasion. They rebranded and are now super famous for their nasi bojari. Yes, it’s really good, but I personally find their noodle dishes awesome as well.

The curry laksa still manages to satisfy… it tastes as good as it looks!

This is Ipoh Hor Fun. I love this as well, with crunchy prawns, tasty broth and nice textured hor fun.

And we can’t have a visit to Madam Kwan’s without cendol!

Their gula malacca tastes so good, I sometimes eat it straight without pouring it into the cendol first! *heh* Anyway the cendol “noodles” tasted rather bland… hope they improve on this!

Overall, the food hit the right spot, so to speak and both me and sis walked away very happy customers.
